Album

Hot Rocks 19641971 is a compilation album by the Rolling Stones released by London Records in December 1971. It became the Rolling Stones' best-selling release of their career and an enduring and popular retrospective. While the album carries most of the band's biggest hits during their first decade, it does drop a few of them to include standout album tracks such as Play With Fire, Under My Thumb and Gimme Shelter giving listeners a more well-rounded impression of the Rolling Stones' music in. Hot Rocks London 2PS 606-7 is even crasser than Flowers and Children, because its the first Stones album on which every track has been represented on albums previously released in this country. Some of them, in fact, like Lets Spend the Night Together, are on their fourth go-round. As historical document of Greatest Hits culling, Hot Rocks takes almost no chances, and if the Stones or London sometimes display an unexpected sense of what may be the bands most important statements as in the inclusion of You Cant Always Get What You Want , there is also much left out. Generally, best-of collections are superceded by updated retrospectives. Hot Rocks is one of the rare exceptions to the rule. Originally released in 1972, it instantly became the Stones intro of choice, elbowing aside Big Hits, High Tide and Green Grass and Through the Past Darkly. Why It happened to hit the racks when Mick and company were at their creative peak. Hot Rocks 19641971 is the first compilation album of Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records who gained control of the band's DeccaLondon material in 1970 after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. Released in late 1971, it proved to be The Rolling Stones' biggest-selling release of their career and an enduring and popular retrospective. After reportedly having been duped by Klein to unknowingly sign over the recording copyrights to all of their material from 1963 to 1970, The Rolling Stones left Decca and formed their own label.
