The Pappy Johns Band is a Canadian blues band whose core members have been performing together for over 30 years. Don Powless bass, Murray Porter vocalskeyboards and Oren Doxtator drums, met in 1978, and played together in the Bar Road Band. Faron Johns later joined the group, and in 2003 the group added the services of singersongwriter and guitarist, Josh Miller, for their album tourFull Circle. Joseph Michael Mahfoud recorded the studio tracks for. MURRAY PORTER is Mohawk, Turtle clan, born and raised on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario, North America. Through his blues he tells the Aboriginal side of history with a mixture of country, blues and humor. As a self-taught, singer, songwriter and piano player, he's travelled the world for 30 years spreading his unique style of foot-stomping, hand clapping, NATIVE BLUES PIANO. In 1994, he launched a solo career, and in 1995, Murray recorded his first solo album 1492, Who Found Who for First Nations Music distributed by EMI, and toured Canada, the U. Australia, Egypt, Israel, Germany, and Haiti. A mohawk from the Six Nations Reserve of the Grand River, Murray haas been playing music since his teenage years, first on guitar and later moving to the piano and singing. He has gone from the clubs to the concert stages across Canada and the . representing his community as an EMI recording artist and has performed on numerous indigenous stages including the last three Aboriginal Achievement Awards.
