Now that I own an official copy of the release, I would like to finally say what's good and bad about this (and presumably the other) unofficial release..... As of this writing, it is not completely terrible if you can get it for $25 or less. The album is sped up a bit for an unknown reason, but is not pitch shifted, so it's hard to notice unless you compare the digital version side by side to this. The sound quality is basically identical to the CD release, as that was likely the source. The sound quality is NOT bad like some people harshly say, but it is basically the CD version on vinyl. It doesn't sound as good as the Vinyl Me Please version, but it's not necessarily bad. It's not distorted or anything, just not as good as the official. This release isn't particularly good on the design front. The real release is a gate fold featuring artwork for all of the songs (similar to the CD insert) on the inside. The font is slightly different in that the "O's" are fatter on the official release. The monkey next to Noodle on the back is also a drawing for some reason. The sleeves that the records come in are plain sleeves instead of the large character portraits on the official release. Overall, this is not a bad unofficial release on the sound quality front. It's the CD, but it's on vinyl! If you're desperate for a copy on vinyl, like I previously was, can't wait for a repress, and can't afford an original/VMP version, I'd say that this isn't a complete waste of money. Just remember that it's the CD on vinyl, and you're missing out on the art inside of the gatefold.
Villo
Could you say from whom specifically you purchased your copy?
Vichredag
I own this bootleg. I have a friend who has an official release. There is a definite difference in speed. i own an ATLP120USB turntable that allows me to turn the speed down minute intervals, and the differece is about a 2% decrease in speed to get the actual tempo of the album. That being said, if you have the capacity to tweak the speed of this unofficial release, it sounds wonderful. If there is a drop in production value, it isn't audible(after the few drinks i had admittedly). Verdict;if you want this classic at a good price, get the bootleg,if you're a serious collector wanting an original, well... you aren't buying this anyhow XD Happy Jammin Everyone!
Stanober
I've noticed on automatic record players, the album sounds sped up. Gonna need a manual player to get it right.
ladushka
Another difference, although kinda subtle, is the different typeface used on the album/artist names on the front cover. This one looks like Arial, while the original uses a geometric sans serif font.
Xtintisha
I have not listened to a genuine copy of this album on vinyl, but I can tell you that this bootleg is more than satisfactory if you don't wish to spend over $100 on an authentic pressing. The only downside I see to this bootleg is that it is not a gatefold, so the inner artwork is missing. The sleves that the LP's come in are also different from the original version. They are plain white paper instead of heavy, solid sleeves with the band members faces. Grab this while you can if you don't want to spend a fortune on a copy and don't want to hold out for a repress. The discs are also rather heavy weight. Mine arrived completely flat, no warping. The "clear" color is a bit muddled, but looks nice overall. It's like a middle ground between completely clear, and coke bottle green.
MarF
Ignore the guy at the bottom saying it's not worth it. If you don't want to spend all of the money on an original pressing, this record sounds good. It's quiet, doesn't clip anywhere, and I didn't hear any surface noise, or see any in my digital rip I made. There's no vinyl rips of the original pressing anywhere online, so I can't really compare it to an original, but it isn't bad. Kumanosuke must be an elitist.
Qucid
To each their own. I think it sounds good for not being a $200 original.
Via
is it worth the buy then? Or would it just be a waste of money?
Porgisk
So this bootleg isn't good then? Was thinking about buying it but my reconsider.
Ydely
"this bootleg is more than satisfactory if you don't wish to spend over $100 on an authentic pressing"I own it and believe me: It's not.
Marilore
Sound quality of the bootleg pressing is fine but the tempo is slightly too high. Pitch sounds ok but too many bpm compared to the original album, spoils it for me but I can make do given the original pressing is out of my price range.
Rishason
theres another pink pressing apparently . . . . .
Vivados
So what is the sound quality like? Is it an OK pressing?
ZloyGenii
Pressing sounds fine. It's on a 180g vinyl. No complaints on my end. I don't know why people are so worried that they bought a bootleg... The original is going for 5x the price.
DarK-LiGht
I should have been much more scrupulous before laying down cash for this. There were many signs just from looking that this is a bootleg: where's the parental advisory sticker? The monkey drawing is fake. No Parlophone label info anywhere. Yup, I got duped. I never thought a bootleg of this album would slip through the cracks and end up at an Amoeba Music in SF... Buyers BEWARE.
Jark
How much did you pay? Maybe you paid the right amount for this version?
Raelin
Amoeba Music in LA has TONS of bootlegs, i figure the one in San Fran does too. Bootlegs are a good thing In my opinion, most of the time. I have bought some that sound horrible, but usually they sound just as good as the original and cost a fraction of the price. I collecct a lot of bootlegs, because often times they will have unreleased material.
Gandree
The demand for this album is way too high for Parlophone to ignore. I suggest you just be patient and wait for the official 180 gram repressing which will inevitably come and actually be worth your hard-earned money.
OwerSpeed
This is very strange. I bought this album at a local MediaMarkt store in Belgium. I'm surprised they are selling bootlegs...?
Malien
I had the same "problem" on HHV.de It only cost me about 16.99€, so I am okay with that..... But I really would like to get this album in the original version if its possible
Taun
As a Previous Owner of a Original Copy, The Original one came with a Parental Advisory Sticker on it. My copy was still in the original plastic with the price tag of $17.99 from "Freak Beat" Records. That is why the Bootleg has it printed. Because they were trying to emulate the original sticker.
Felolune
I think you're mistaken. Only counterfeits or 'bootlegs' have the Parental Advisory label on them, the original issues do not...Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/44wzgv/demon_days_vinyl_vs_the_bootleg_vinyl_guide_i/
Bloodray
It's a bootleg, basically unless it has the parental advisory label printed on the front cover it's a bootleg.
SoSok
Does anyone know anything about this or have a source on it? I picked it up at a record store on record store day, I would be upset if it turned out to be a bootleg.
Vathennece
Yeah, man. You bought a bootleg. The original pressing wouldn't likely land on a shelf and be priced for anything less than $150. I have an original press from Holland and bought this one knowing it was a boot, but wanted one to open and play. Hope you didn't spend a ton on it!
Xmatarryto
No, there is not. The records are contained in plain white sleeves w/ no artwork or designs. If it was any other album, or artist, that wouldn't be a big deal. But w/ Gorillaz, half of the charm is in the images and artwork of Hewlett - if you can't have this album the way they aesthetically intended it, then you probably shouldn't bother.
Ganthisc
No. This may be why I have several skips on mine because the vinyl is housed back to back.
Rleillin
How much did you pay for it? $30? You got your money's worth. I have this, picked it up in New York.
Todal
This is a bootleg version, not a repress, we hope we can get any official repress in the future.(if you see the monkey behind Noodle on the rear cover, is a bit different than the monkey in any other version of Demon Days, take a look to the pic I just upload. I don't know why they changed the monkey)
Jorius
This is bootleg. But, quality is cool! ) ) )
Faell
How do we know its an unofficial bootleg? I don't disbelieve it, I'm just curious what sources there are for this kind of information. Also, who would be producing and profiting off this bootleg, like where is it actually coming from to show up in my local record store?
ᴜɴɪᴄᴏʀɴ
"This release is an unofficial bootleg, the differences between the official release and this are:"
POFOD
Is there a gatefold on this version? Just out of curiosity.
Kann
I have a version with two neon yellow records. Pretty bad bootleg.
Sat
This will remain the best version of the album until it's reissued on regular vinyl with transitions intact. It's also the only pressing where the jacket is big enough to hold the inner sleeves.
Marilace
BEWARE!!! Seller pop.market is selling represses as first press under this entry.Report and avoid this behaviour on Discogs
Sironynyr
I can confirm that, it happened to me. so really be carefull
Enalonasa
The items repress of this unscrupulous record store (pop.market) were cleared from the sale. Discogs Buyers, be awake !
Erienan
Just a warning; there's a seller out in California whose name I won't drop that keeps listing the reissue under this listing at very cheap prices. Used and new. Take heed before you order!
Loni
Original UK 1st pressing is THE ONLY WAY TO GO ! Why ? LIsten and you will understand instantly !DON'T BELIEVE WARNER BROS HYPE, they just want your money, nothinhg more & nothing less !
Ber
don't worry scammer, you'll sell this overpriced record to a fool at some point, just wait a bit until your original 200€ target price is hype again
Hanelynai
Or you can get a new copy of it for not $80. Don't be idiots, people.
Fecage
Found a sealed copy for a decent price. Felt like blasphemy opening it up but I don't buy safe queens. After cleaning and preparing both LPs I ripped them to digital using my more than adequate equipment turntable, ADC, and reciever. This first pressing definately sounds superior to the club reissue of which I also have a NM copy. Pushing quality is very good with a little surface noise but no clicks or ticks. No inner groove distortion with my shibata stylus. I would say the club reissue is plenty good enough but the song transition/ mixing issues kill it for me. Hopefully the very soon to be full reissue has these mixing issues resolved.
Deeroman
I landed one near mint, the first press is the only way to go. So much more organic than any other version I've ever heard don't buy into current Warner bros lies.
Mitars Riders
"Fantastic" comment! If this - apparently - is all about saving money for you, why not buy "Demon Days" on 2nd hand cd???? But if you want the best vinyl version, it STILL is the 2005 original. Like it or not.
Nikok
how would scammers/speculators would survive without fools? :-D they (probably) got a heart too
Worla
Spend the $100+ on an original when you can get one now for $25. Fantastic advice!
ndup
a reissue will be released on 4 / 6 / 18
นℕĨĈტℝ₦

Anybody have any info on this? I'm apprehensive, nothing else seems to be public.
Jorius
it's getting ridiculous,170€...maybe parlophone(/whatever label it depends on now) will realize its potential as a regularly manufactured product instead of poseur's item one day?
Jack
pilotfish693 it's getting ridiculous,170€...maybe parlophone(/whatever label it depends on now) will realize its potential as a regularly manufactured product instead of poseur's item one day? nathangoodwin They have to know, they've reissued every album except Demon Days. There's no way they think people don't want it. The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived. Demon Days finally got a mass-produced reissue a few days ago. Owners report that it's derived from the same metalwork as the VMP release.
Kazracage

Majin
Could have bought the original 2004 one sealed at a local store for 38euros... I doubted... Realized how rare it was, came back and it was already sold. Manly tears were shed.
Rko
I bought the 2005 version a year ago at a local store for 20 euros. didn't even know how rare it was
Modred
I can't believe the repress has already sold out... gonna be crying for a while now.
Anayanis
It's official boys! They're even using the official mastered versions of the entire album https://twitter.com/VinylMePlease/status/843854840350543872
nadness
says half speed remastered at alchemy whereas original credits masterdisk for mastering.
SING
OK, I just splurged on an original after getting duped on one of those bootlegs. The sound quality is night and day. 1. Obviously the original is superior and contains a richer and fuller sound throughout. The cover is a lot nicer. Plus the inclusion of picture sleeves makes for an all round more satisfying package. 2. The bootleg is actually not that bad. But, and there is a but... The sound is really limited due to it being pressed from an mp3 or low quality Cd. It's passable, but the original soars in comparison...
Nightscar
Anyone else's copy sound weirdly distorted for part of 'Feel Good Inc'? The pressing on the whole is pretty good (though could do with being a bit quieter in places as it sounds like the cut is struggling to cope) but this song has a few muddy passages - most notable during the rap verses and the breakdown between them. I did buy my copy second hand but the vinyl doesn't look damaged or different in those sections so I'm wondering if it's just a pressing defect? Yet another reason to hope for a repress some time!
Black_Hawk_Down
Hi, some tracks on mine sound slightly distorted! It’s like there is fluff on the needle but the vinyl and cartridge are fine!?
Mala
I got mine on a sl 1200 with ortofon Nightclub MK2, a pair of sterling monitors, and a sub. It sounds awesome to me.
Ichalote
Having cleaned the record thoroughly and listened a bit more closely, I think the problem is the high-frequency data in the left channel is slightly distorted. It's only really noticeable on the latter half of B2, and even there it's only obvious if you're paying attention, but it continues into B3 as well. I've seen someone else, in the notes attached to his/her dr.loudness-war.info entry, mention a slight problem with sibilance and high-frequency distortion on A2 which I don't really have, but perhaps my copy was made later or earlier in the run. Either way seems like it probably affects multiple copies. Aside from how much everyone is paying for this I can't really understand the gushing reviews of the sound quality - it's good but not great, bassy and detailed but also a bit too upfront, which as I say has it distorting in places. Remaster please! (Setup: ortofon 2m bronze, project debut iii esprit, graham slee gram amp 2 SE, marantz pm6005, monitor audio bronze bx2s)
Ygglune
My original vinyl copy of Demon Days came with a purple plastic carrier bag. I can't see any reference to this anywhere else - anyone know how rare this is? See here: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=474703
thrust
thats probly just a promo bag its probably worth nothing
Shadowredeemer
Anyone know how many copies were made? Great album thoug! Just got my first copy some weeks ago :)
Adrierdin
Forgot about this one! Heavy slabs of vinyl and those Danger Mouse beats are thick and sound real good and plus the artwork--all around a quality release.
Brakree
I saw a copy of this in a charity shop a few years ago and I didn't buy it. Biggest regret of my entire life.
Coidor
I bought it at the Virgin megastore in Paris in 2008. I didn't know that now it cost a lot. I think it will be repress one day.
JoJoshura
I did exactly the same! Never wondered it would end up this valuable!
Delirium
A fantastic album I'd love to have on vinyl. Their other albums are very common, if the last few trips have been any indication, I could walk into the store and buy all three! But this one is super expensive and rare? Come on now...
Virn
This LP is not being re-released in 2015!I just did some research with all companies concerned and discovered that (unfortunately) this album is not on the cards for re-release on vinyl. Music On Vinyl do not have it on their schedule... at all.And in addition to that it was mentioned recently (as another Discogs member pointed out) that Demon Days was possibly due for re-release by Damon Albarn and could be released as part of a 15 year anniversary package. I chased up the article she was referring to and it turns out that statement was nothing more than the reporters point of view (i.e. that it is long out of print and is long overdue for re-release rather than IS going to be re-released). Note: the user was only skimming through the article standing in a newsagent so one can forgive that she was not 100%.So back to square one.Looks like I (and many others) will have to continue the search. My local record store had it wrong *sigh*
Saimath
I pray that they someday re-release this. And not a crappy remaster, either.
Mightsinger
A remaster is needed with the highs of this album. Why would it be crappy? ..... It would be amazing!
Memuro
I am pretty sure only 1000 were released, and this is the best Gorillaz album so good luck trying to find someone to buy it from for cheap
Bandiri
so this is really rare, but 452 people bothered to register it to discogs? don't pay these prices
Gholbirius
Discogs.com registers all releases. At present 645 people own this Album, these are pretty much all C.Ds. It is quite a hard to find LP... Must be quite limited.?!?
Brightcaster

Whilingudw
Curious as to how many copies were pressed?
Eseve
anyone know why this is so rare or how many copies were made?
Milleynti
Hey. Just a question here.
I have this album, and the only thing different from all the information is the mould SID Code, mine is "ifpi AAHE4" XD
Is it worth adding that the mould code I have to this release, or would I have to create a new release, or even sit quietly and do nothing? :D
Note that this concern is only in order to make Discogs even better :)
Cheers
