Buhloone Mindstate is the third studio album by American hip hop group De La Soul. It was released on September 21, 1993, by Tommy Boy and was the group's last record to be produced with Prince Paul. Buhloone is a phonetic spelling of the English noun balloon. This theme is laid out in the intro track, which starts with the sound of a balloon being inflated then the hookline it might blow up, but it won't go pop is repeated over and over, until the sound of a balloon popping replaces the final. De La Souls third album, Buhloone Mindstate, was released in 1993 as the follow-up to their critically acclaimed sophomore album De La Soul is Dead. It also became their last album to feature production from Prince Paul. The buhloone mindstate refers to the concept that their music might blow up but it wont go pop. The production is a bit more jazz influenced than their previous two albums, with features from Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, and Pee Wee Ellis from The J. s on Patti Dooke and I Am I Be. The album also features guest appearances from Biz Markie, Shortie No Mass, Guru from. Buhloone Mindstate. Tommy Boy. last album of De La Soul's creative prime, Buhloone Mindstate was also their last with producer Prince Paul. After the claustrophobic De La Soul Is Dead, Mindstate is a partial return to the upbeat positivity of 3 Feet High and Rising, though not its wildly colorful invention. Instead, Buhloone Mindstate takes a calmer, more laid-back approach - the music is often more introspective, and the between-song skits have been jettisoned in favor of a tighter focus. The surrealism of Buhloone Mindstate's predecessors has largely evaporated, and the production, while still imaginative,. It sounds different from previous De La Soul albums. the 'Deep Gully' Sample comes back towards the end but this time it sounds more 'Trippier' with the sounds of children laughing and animals. En Focus Back to the hip-hop. this song has a repetitive bassline with some nice production by Prince Paul. It's a fun album to listen to. At times it sounds overproduced, But this album was De La Soul taking their sound a little more further than before. This hasn't bored me yet, unlike other rap CD's that I've listened to. thumb: Tweet. Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill. De La Soul 3 Feet High and Rising. Beck Mellow Gold. Faith No More The Real Thing. That title of the album speak for itself - It Might Blow Up, But It Won't Go POP The coolest and breezy samples of jazz and funk is very incredible. This is probably my favourite De La Soul album, now that I've grown up. I play 3 feet when the kids are about and of course they love it but this is just an absolute gem. It hasn't aged at all probably due to the jazz samples that pervade the mix. Listen free to De La Soul Buhloone Mindstate Intro, Eye Patch and more. 15 tracks 52:55.
