Album

Drums: Live on King Street is a 1985 recording made by jazz drummer Buddy Rich and his Big Band. It is the final album released during Rich's lifetime. A 3 LP and 2 CD audio album was initially released by Cafe Records a division of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, and a video of the Channel One set was released by Pioneer Video LaserDisc and Sony videocassette. The Channel One set was eventually re-issued on DVD as were the remaining tracks the West Side Story set aka The Lost Tapes. Big Swing Face is a 1967 live album and the second album by Buddy Rich and his 1960s big band. The Beat Goes On is a feature for Rich's daughter Cathy, whose vocal performance was overdubbed later at United Recording in Hollywood. A reissue in 1996 doubles the listing with nine previously unreleased performances from the same engagement at the Chez Club in Hollywood. LP side A: Norwegian Wood This Bird Has Flown Lennon and McCartney 2:57. Big Swing Face Bill Potts 5:15. Drummer Buddy Rich's final recording he would pass away exactly two years from the day before this recording took place does a superb job of summing up the career of his big band. This three-LP set, all recorded during a gig in San Francisco, serves as a fine retrospective, with the highlights including remakes of One O'Clock Jump, Love for Sale, Mexicali Nose, Cotton Tail, New Blues, Channel One Suite and the famous West Side Story Medley.
